"Being an Adventist is about being relevant, and it was significant that the church engaged in this topic, raising relevant issues puts us on the cutting edge and it makes me feel good to belong to the Adventist Church" stated Val Bernard, Head of Behavioural Sciences at Newbold College at the end of a Level Seven debate concerning the churches role in slavery.
