Royal Cornwall Show, Wadebridge, 7 - 9 June, 2007

A record crowd of 127,000 people crowded through the gates of the Royal Cornwall Show in Wadebridge, 7 – 9 June. While they may have gone to view the live-stock, watch the JCB dancing diggers, or the massed parade of hounds, many of them found their way to the Seventh-day Adventist stand manned by the pastors and members of Area 1.

The special feature of this year's stand was a live artist, Annette da Silva who attracted attention during the three days as she painted a classic Second Coming scene and a more contemporary picture of John pondering his vision of Revelation 1:7. It was this second painting that was won by a lady who suggested she will hang it in her parent's living room.

Pastor de Nysschen of the Exeter and Torquay churches told BUC News, "The idea of getting an artist to paint at the show worked very well. She attracted a lot of attention and it enabled us to chat to people about the meaning of the paintings. To many the Second Coming of Jesus was as unknown as the geography of Antarctica."

Many charities fund raise at this event and through the paintings the church was able to raise £117.00 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and £122.40 for ADRA-UK. The profile of the church was raised, many contacts were made and literature such as LIFE.info magazine was given away.
