North England Conference Pathfinder Rally, Wolverhampton, 8 September, 2007

As the drums thudded and boomed across the square, a sea of Pathfinders and Adventurers in their sharp brown and immaculate white uniforms could be seen marching rhythmically to the beat that was heard. Those of us standing or passing by could not help but get caught up in the thrill of the moment.
Upon seeing the spectacular display Councillor Trudy Bowen, the Mayoress of Wolverhampton who spoke on behalf of the City Council, was elated by the way the Pathfinders had presented themselves, in both looks and behaviour. She reflected on her time as a girl guide and a couple of mishaps that she had encountered during this time. Later she was given tokens of appreciation on behalf of the Pathfinders. The sermon was timely and was delivered by 17 year old Pathfinder, Bez Mambwe.
The day ended as it had begun with the movement of colour, the booming of the drums and equal enthusiasm. The final part of the ceremonies was to lower the flags and give the benediction with the anticipated hope of meeting again, ‘Next year in Jerusalem’, or Sheffield, whichever is the soonest.
